Sky Sanctuary Poll

Welcome to the Sky Sanctuary Poll. Scroll on down to the bottom, and there will be a link that leads you to two questions. One regarding Sonic, the other regarding videogames in general. Answer whichever one you want, or you can answer 'em both. Remember that this isn't a quiz or anything...it's a poll, so feel free to explain your opinions.

The Sky Sanctuary Poll is updated every Saturday, which means that two new questions will be posted and the results to the previous weeks poll will be displayed. I guess that covers it, so dig in!

Last time...

Here are the results to last week's Sonic poll, "What was your favorite song in Sonic R?":
********************************************************
Living in the City: 3 votes
Back in Time: 3 votes
Diamond in the Sky: 3 votes

I like Regal Ruins best.

I don't know! I never heard them! AUGH!!!!! -- ~JM Stalker [Y'know, I had that problem once. But you know what I did? I BOUGHT THE GAME! Sheesh...]

Can You Feel the Sunshine. I know you like Livin' in the City, but that's crap, man. No offence or anything. :) [Nevermind my offense! And I like "Work it Out" best myself, anyway...]

Take Me Back in Time, for no other reason than I li [I lie too, but atleast I can spell it!]

Well, that's a good question. I like SuperSonic Racing Extended Rage Edition, y'know, the one that plays when you're SuperSonic on Radiant Emerald. The start's crummy, where she's going "Come on run away" and stuff, but towards the end she keeps screaming "SuperSonic Racing" and "everybody", which is just sublime.

Ohhhh, another Sonic R question... STOP ASKIN' EM! They get so boring. I myself have never played Sonic R, and I would have but the FREAKIN' SLOW game stores threw a monkey wrench in the works. I HATE BLOCKBUSTER! They never even had Sonic Jam! -- D-H Sonic F [Slow nothing. They just don't carry Saturn games anymore, ya schnook! I shop at Electronic's Boutique and Tronix. Check 'em out.]

I dunno. Gimme some .wav files of the songs to listen to, then I'll tell ya. -- Jim Doe [Wish I had some...if you have RealAudio, though, you can hear 'em from the SaturnWorld jukebox!]

Ah, runnin' out of questions, gibbon? Last time it was a question about if we liked the music on Sonic R, now you want to know which song on Sonic R is our favorite? C'mon, get original, gibbon! [And today I was gonna ask which Zone in Sonic R was your favorite...]

"Livin' in the City." --The Silver Sonic

Radical City, of course. *starts whistling the song*

Well, when I played it that one time, I'll have to say, "Living in a City Where No One Lets you Down". -J.N.

"Where Do All The Rainbows Go?" [Ah, you must mean "Diamond in the Sky", the track for Radiant Emerald!]

How am I supposed to figure THIS out? They're all wicked good... um... Regal Ruins.

There all great man I wish you had some WAVs -- Clarence33 [Yeah, me too...]

"Diamond in the Sky". It's got a sort of Rainbow Road feel to it which goes very, very well with being a) the final track and b) the track of the Chaos Emeralds... to say nothing of that superbly understated bridge. Although, truth be told, the music in the whole game is completely excellent. Once again, kudos to SEGA! for CD-izing the sound track. Just wish that all the CD players out there were as programmable as the one in my computer... in terms of skipping over the data track and all the fanfares and little 10-second sound bites. [Lucky sonofagun...I have to get up and push the buttons manually when I want to skip past those tracks...]

Er!!! I don't know. You see, I got it two days ago. As I, Popcorn, have been in Florida, we couldn't take all the Xmas pressies on the plane, so I got most of the cool little suckers back home after Christmas. See? Logic. Thus, even after playing it and loving it and so on for hours aand hours, I cannot decide. But-- hang on-- YOU DON'T-- YOU'VE NEVER HEARD-- KNOW ABOUT-- NEVER HEARD OF MONTY PYTHON!? ? Why, you little... er... think of something stupidly American... dork! Yeah! Dork! Jerk! JERK! Hah! England MUST be better than the USA if you don't have ole Monty! BWAAAHAHAHAH! =)) [Any relation to Melvin Anaconda?]

YESSSS! I heard the Sonic R music at SaturnWorld! It is undeniably cool. Those gaming mags are nuts. Anyway, of the four they gave me (the main four tracks) here's my top four:
4. Livin' in the City -- Radical City Zone
3. Can't You Feel The Sunshine -- Resort Island Zone
2. Take Me Back in Time -- Regal Ruin Zone
And my favorite song of the four is: :: drumroll :: Work it Out -- Reactive Factory Zone! Woohoo! Work it Out, Work it Out, think about it Work it Out, Work it Out... -- D-H Sonic F
P.S. "Toot Toot Sonic Warrior" and "Believe in Yourself" are NOT from Sonic Arcade, they're from the Japanese Sonic CD. So nyah. [I knew that...Sonic Electronic, King of the Ring, and They Call me Sonic are from Sonic Arcade, and they are incredibly stupid...]

Number One (the end song.Does anybody actually read the back of the booklet with it? As it tells you the names of the songs and gives you the words, except some of them are wrong) [Really? My manual doesn't have those! Where'd you get your at? Or what country are you from?]

That would be, Raident emrald

Now, here's why you should lock your doors at night:
*********************************************************
The other day I was called a little turkey. But I'm a chicken, got it, you beef jerky? Actually, gibbons are closer to pork.]

How come this is The Ancient Walkers' Poll again? Aww, man! [Hey, it is not! The Ancient Walkers got real mad at me and stormed off after the little "microwaveable pudding" incident...]

I will now torture you, Gibbon! MWAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Dadadadada, only one of them will last, dadadada, only that you go so fast, oh yeah! You goin' too fast, yeah! Oh so dadadada, say you wanna like, to say and find out which one grows, it's a secret no one knooooooooooows, secret no one knows, ohhhh, and sayin' MMMMMMMMMMMBOP BOP BOP DOOOOOOOOOWOP BOP BOP DIIIIIIIIIIMBOP BOP BOP DOOOOOOOOOOO Yeah, yeah MMMMMMMMBOP BOP BOP DOOOOOOOOWOP BOP BOP DIIIIIIIIIIMBOP BOP BOP DOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Yeah, yeah! [I'm not singing along to that...]

Economic forecast.. shoes of dereliction. [Gosh, my shoes are made of leather...actually, it's a cheap leather substitute, but nevermind.]

Under neon lonliness, motorcycle emptiness. Diddleydee [...Mommy, I scared...]

Poor Donaldo, he never meant to hurt anybody.... come on, everyone pat Donaldo on the head... awwwwwwww...... [Don't do it! He'll bite your hands off, I tell you!]

Have you guys seen Titanic yet? I have not cried so hard since I heard that Sonic's animated series got canceled! -- Moon. (Green, you can keep putting up Sonic R questions, and I can keep givin answers that have nothing to do with the question. Deal?) [Go ahead...less than half the responses I get ever make any sense anyway! And if you don't have the game, NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY ONE! You can pick up a Saturn for as low as $30 and games for as low as $5 at most chain retail outlets! And to think I paid $300 for mine two years ago... And besides, I hate dramas...]

Ding ding ding with the ring ring ring, I'm the Sonic Electronic and I'm gonna be the king of the ring ring ring, take a ding ding ding, when you're really storming high, set me free and we will fly . . . [I don't know if those are the exact lyrics, but now you've all seen the horror that is the Sonic Arcade soundtrack...]

Bash The Democrat! Bash the Democrat, he deserves it . . . bash the Democrat, you know you want to do it! Bash bash bash bash! YAH! [Hey, what melody do I sing that to? I want to sing it when I go to my first Presidental election in the year 2000!]

Always look on....the bright side of your life!I love Jack Nicholson! Don't you?! Did I just make a fool of myself, again? DRAT! -- Blue Hog! [Jack Nicholson? I think he's the janitor at the Armstone City fashion school that Honey goes to, huh?]

If there's something strange in the neighborhood, who ya gonna call? SONIC R! If somethin' is weird, and it don't look good, who ya gonna call? SOMIC R! There's an invisible man sleepin in your bed, who ya gonna call? SONIC R! [I don't care what anyone else says, Ghostbusters still rules...]

Professor Frink, Profressor Frink, he makes you laugh, he makes you think . . . *ng-hey!* [NO! Don't think! We ain't gonna have none of that around here.]

MYST! MYST! MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST MYST! MYST! MYST! -- Archenon [MYST?! Don't you know that game is for casual gamers?! You're not a casual gamer, are you? ARE YOU?!]

ME! [You can sing?]

My underwear set fire to my latests amusement park. I later went for a pink and yellow dip in the lavoratory. After a marshmallow stepped on my nose, it ate a purple shoe on the windowsill. Twenty silly monkeys climb off your roof to destroy the elves that jump over rainbows and then I kicked a water hose under the green pillow that grew from your dog's hind leg. Thank you for your time, patience, and flying umbrellas in the orangy bubbleness. [Funny, the exact same thing happened to me last Thursday! Small world, ain't it?]

Near, far, where ever you are/I believe that the heart does go on/Once more you open the door/And you're here in my heart/And my heart will go on on... love that song!!! love it!!! would love it even more if I had someone to sing it too... [Ah, life being a lonely bachelor sucks, don't it? Well, I sing those type of songs to Honey! She don't respond, but she does listen real good...]

The one that goes doo doo doo doo doodoodoo . . . doodoodoo . . . doodoodoo . . . oh, wait, that's Mary had a Little Lamb. Hold on one second . . . dee dee dee dee deedeedee . . . deedeedee . . . deedeedee . . . . . . . . D'oh! [No comment...]

Kiss my arse, gibbon! You ain't getting nuthin' from me! NUTHIN'! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! [No comment again...]

Ha! You'll never figure out who this isn't, gibbon! NEVER! -Jim Doe . . . . D'oh! [No public comment...]

Stay back, or I shall spray you with Silly String! KI-YA! [Man, did you ever wonder what in the heck they make that stuff with? I've come up with several excellent suggestions, but they'd all be illegal, so they couldn't be right...]

Must . . . come up . . . with . . . last minute . . . joke! Must . . . think! [NO! Haven't I already established my opinions on thinking? It just shouldn't be, and around the Green Hill Zone, it won't! OKAY?!]

Here are the results for last week's videogame poll, "Who is the coolest RPG hero/heroine?":
Aeris Gainsborough: 3 votes
Cloud Strife: 1½ votes
Others: 6 votes

Need you even ask? mog! Mog! MOG!

Azel. She's an alien, but she's cool. [She does seem cool in a way, but dang...who does her hair? She looks like a freakin' walking coat hanger!]

You can't judge coolness of a character. They're based on what is politically acceptable at the time. You have to judge them in groups like '80s, Early '90s, Middle '90s, and Late '90s. The '80s coollest is probably the Fighter from FF1, Early '90s winner is Rydia from FF4, Middle '90s in Crono from Chrono Trigger, and Late '90s (so far) is Aeris Gainsborough. So there. -- ~JM Stalker [That's fine...just don't get any ideas, 'cause Aeris is MINE! Dead, alive, or otherwise!]

RPG's? I've never seen a single RPG in my life! I HATE MY PARENTS! GG!, how did you disown yours? Anyway, I hear the Katana will have a Sonic RPG, so I'll have to say him. -- D-H Sonic F [If you ask me, D-H, it's about time to get a new set of parents. Also, I certainly never heard that the Katana was going to be released with a Sonic RPG, so don't count on it.]

Cid the Engineer from Final Fantasy II (IVj)! He's cool! He's everything a hero should be! He rough and tumble, always has a joke ready, flirts with danger, is self-sacrificing for the good of all, and always has a winning grin plastered on his face! If it weren't for Cid, Cecil and his buds would probably have been busted by Zeromus and his lackeys many times over! CID ALL THE WAY, BABY! -- Jim Doe [No, Cid Highwind from FFVII! He's got all the same traits you mentioned above plus the coolest airship you ever saw (even if he did steal it from Shinra...)!]

I'd have to say C.J., from the classic RPG of 1988, Might & Magic II. [I don't remember no C.J! I don't remember no Might & Magic II! Come to think of it, I don't even remember 1988 so well!]

Final Fantasy VII [Not game, ya schnook, character! Well, I'll just put you down for Cid Highwind, even though Ronfar is much cooler.]

*ahem* Link, I believe. [Are you kiddin'? A flippin' little elf freak dressed like Peter Pan? He'd better be a darn lot cooler in Zelda: The Ocarina of Time...]

Aeris? [I'm kinda wonderin' why everyone sees Aeris as so cool. I mean, she was nice and all, but Tifa actually seems "cooler" to me...even though she does get really wimpy around the end.]

Let's see... oh, who to pick? Cloud? Crono? Chaz? (What's with all the C's?) Well, since you asked for hero/heroine... Coolest Hero: Crono. He lends new meaning to the term "strong, silent type". I think it's only recently that RPG characters have actually had lines. But, anyway, he's just an ordinary kid (well, until Spekkio gets a hold of him) who somehow manages to cope with time travel and all that entails, and sacrifices himself to save his friends. And makes good enough friends that they all want to bring him back from beyond the grave. Not bad for a little spiky-haired guy, eh? 2nd-coolest hero: Cloud Strife. The man with no past, at least at the beginning of the game. Backstory? What backstory? He manages to overcome the delusion he gets midway that he's nothing but a fabricated organism. He even asks Hojo to give him a number and seal his fate as a Sephiroth clone. Then he surprises everybody (even himself) by actually having a legit past... and the final scene in the Shinra Mansion throws all the pieces together. Pulling out of a slump like the one he gave the Black Materia to Sephiroth in is definitely cool... and so is the Omnislash he finishes Sephiroth off with. 3rd-coolest hero: Chaz Ashley. A lowly monster-hunter from Aiedo who ends up saving the world in Phantasy Star IV. And, along the way, he voices long and loud (especially when Alys dies) that he doesn't want to go on, that it'll just mean more suffering, that he wants to lead a normal life. And he's got friends to guide him down... well, not necessarily the right path, but it turns out that way. Somebody else who overcomes his fears and worries to do a totally excellent job of saving the world. On to the ladies... Coolest heroine: Aeris Gainsborough. Not only are her Limit Breaks the most visually impressive in the game, (Great Gospel rules!) but she's also got a great spirit and a good heart. And she dies a third of the way through. Now, that death scene... man, I know I cried. Especially with that music going in the background. And then, when Bugenhagen finally explains what she did, and how she sacrificed herself to safe the Planet... that sealed it for me. Talk about selfless... 2nd-coolest Heroine: Princess Alena. Way back in the NES days of RPG's, from Dragon Warrior IV, Alena sort of paved the way for the modern warrior princesses. But she was the first female character to rely on strength and speed rather than spells. (Fear Alena with Stilletto Earrings.) 3rd-coolest Heroine: Alis Landale. From the very first Phantasy Star. Anybody who would be remembered as a great hero a millennium later in Phantasy Star IV deserves at least a mention. [Well, here you give this fantasticly elaborate list with one major flaw...it doesn't have Ronfar on it! Come on people, am I the only one here who played Lunar Eternal Blue?! Ronfar is the COOLEST RPG character ever conceived! I mean, he puts everyone else to shame! He's a seriously bad-ass priest-turned-gambler, who has about as much manners as a sick pig! He's also a complete pervert like me...I still get a kick out of the way he and Hiro fought over the rip in the tent where the girls were finding new clothes for Lucia! But more than anything, he is a real "best friend" type. Every RPG has some loveable female character for the hero to fall in love with, and the effect is usually acheived; but Ronfar was the first to capture a real "buddy-buddy" feeling. From the very start, Ronfar was my best friend and remained my closest confidant for the remainder of the game. Ronfar rules ALL!]

CLOUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

This is what bored hardcore gamers do with their time:
***********************************************************
Jonothon Pears, of course! When he flips his pancakes, my heart misses a beat!! [Mine too, but that's usually because the pancakes end up falling down my throat.]

Mario will only make a guest appearance as a hidden character.]

Seeing as I'm about to be mobbed with people who don't think I'm original enough, I don't think it would be wise to repeat those questions so soon...]

Metal Knuckles: I got him! I got the Gibbon! He's in the sack! Let's go! Metal Sonic: Hey! Where did Metal Tails go? [*GG! screams from the sack* It's Tails Doll, not Metal Tails! TAILS DOLL! By the way, does this sack have an in-flight movie?]
